Cheating on your marriage partner has never been easier. The internet is making it easier for couples to hook up with others who are looking for affairs.
A relatively new website makes it even easier for the average person to make connections with those looking to go outside the boundaries of marriage.
According to an article in Time magazine ,679,000 people have used the cheater's internet site.
Of these users 92% of males are married while 60% of females who use the site are married. In the last year membership of the site has doubled to 4 million. These are seriously disturbing statistics about society.
Interestingly, the two times of the year where numbers peaked were just after special occasions. One was just after Fathers Day. The reason for this according to CEO Noel Biderman is that many men feel unappreciated. As a way of combating any tendency to stray, what we need to do then as women is make sure we appreciate our spouses and let them know how much we appreciate them by the things we do and say not just on Father's Day or anniversary but every day.
The other peak time is just after Valentine's Day. This is the time when women feel most neglected and feel they are not getting the love they deserve. So guys, why not try making your wife feel special by buying her some flowers, or a special gift, paying her a compliment, taking her out for a romantic dinner or just simply showing her more attention and letting her know how valuable she is to you. Of course both of these remedies should be not just near Father's Day or Valentine's Day but every day.
Those who run the site justify their actions by saying, 'no website.... is going to convince anyone to cheat. People cheat because their lives aren't working for them.'
So it's up to each of us to make sure our spouse doesn't feel the need to cheat because we are keeping them happy, meeting their needs and letting them know how important they are to us. The CEO of the site says. Humans aren't meant to be monogamous.' I disagree. That's exactly what we are meant to be.
Yet Biderman freely admits if his wife used the site he would be 'devastated.' Talk about having your cake and eating it too!
And in case you're wondering, I haven't checked the site out and have no intention of doing so, firstly because I ham happy with my husband and have no desire to roam and secondly because the whole thing sickens me that people are preying on others and making money out of other people cheating on their spouses.
