One in three women admit they fake an orgasm when making love -- but so do a quarter of men.
A survey of 30,000 people in the U.K. from an internet dating site found age is no barrier, with as many 60-year-olds as teenagers admitting to putting on a performance between the sheets.
Some claimed they faked because they did not find their partner attractive, others to avoid an argument and a few just to get it over and done with.
Among the fakers who completed the poll for www.smooch.com, some said they did not want to make their partner feel inadequate while others blamed having an unhappy relationship.
The survey was also told that the more attractive a man or woman is, the more likely they are to pretend during lovemaking.
The biggest fakers come from Redbridge, Essex -- where 53 percent admit that at least some of the time they put on an act that rivals Meg Ryan's famous scene in When Harry Met Sally.
Londoners are the most honest between the sheets -- with 75 percent claiming that they have never faked.
