Men stressed By Average Love Lives

Men with average relationships with their partners have more stress at work than those in good or bad relationships, a Swedish survey finds.

Ann-Christine Andersson Arnten, a graduate student at the University of Gothenburg, studied 900 men and women for five years, The Local reported. She said the results for women were what she expected -- the better their home lives and sex lives the less stress they had on the job.

"When we talked to the men, they said that when it's in-between, you have to put more effort into it," she said. "You keep doing that until the relationship either becomes better or hopeless. When you get to that point, it doesn't really affect your health anymore."

She found men said the quantity of sex in a relationship was more important, while women are interested in the quality.

Andersson Arnten asked her subjects to fill out questionnaires and to rate the quality of relationships as good, average or poor. She then asked them to rate the effect of their relationships on their work.
